Summary

About the Role

We’re a well-capitalized, product-driven startup operating in stealth, building a next-generation consumer device that brings real-time interaction and intelligence into the home in a new form factor.

We’re seeking a senior hardware engineer to join our founding team and lead the development of our first hardware product—from early prototyping to full production. You’ll work closely with a small, multidisciplinary team of software, AI, and design engineers to build something truly new.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead hardware system design for a compact consumer electronics device, including schematic capture, board layout review, and bring-up.
  • Own the hardware stack, including SoC selection, power management, I/O routing, and thermal constraints.
  • Collaborate with embedded, AI, and design teams to ensure seamless integration between hardware and real-time software pipelines.
  • Source and integrate components such as microphones, cameras, and wireless modules, with a focus on performance, latency, and cost.
  • Support prototyping, DFM, and small-batch manufacturing in the early stages.
  • Work with vendors and factories as we move toward test runs and eventual production.

What You Might Have
  • 5+ years of experience designing and shipping embedded hardware or consumer electronics.
  • Proficiency with schematic design and PCB layout tools (e.g., Altium, KiCad).
  • Experience working with SoCs (e.g., Amlogic, Rockchip, Broadcom), PMICs, and common interfaces like HDMI, USB, and Wi-Fi/BT.
  • Familiarity with debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.) and bring-up of Linux or Android systems on custom boards.
  • Bonus: experience with voice interfaces, cameras, IR/LiDAR sensors, or audio/video systems.
  • Bonus: experience with DVT, compliance (FCC/CE), and scaling to production.

Why Join
  • Build a meaningful, zero-to-one hardware product at the edge of real-time interaction and AI.
  • Join a nimble, low-ego founding team with deep experience building and shipping.
  • Tackle hard, multidisciplinary problems in a high-ownership environment.
  • Competitive salary and meaningful early equity.
  • Remote flexibility, with hardware lab access in Los Angeles if needed.
