Lead Front End Engineer (React) Job Description How will I help? Working within Technology, Westpac Institution Banking (WIB) on the highly strategic Westpac One project, the Lead Engineer function plays an important role in the development of a new Online Banking Platform for Corporate and Institutional clients. We are looking for top engineers with the ability to deliver business value first and foremost. This is a front-end development role with technologies such as React and Node.js. As the new Platform will be built on OpenFin, experience with that technology will be very highly regarded but is not mandatory. Building and integrating with RESTful API's will be a core part of the role. Your role will be to lead a stream, being responsible for both design and build. You will work with other stream Lead engineers to ensure consistency for similar patterns, DevOps processes etc. You will be responsible for leading the engineers and solution designers in your stream, so you will need strong design skills in addition to your coding skills. You will code. You will be expected to be the person in the stream that any developer would go to for coding help. You will work with the other lead engineers and the Chief Engineer to build a better engineering practice and look to implement continuous improvement practices in everything you do. Communicating complex ideas and solutions with technical leaders & business stakeholders, the Lead Software Engineer will be well equipped to provide and technical engineering advice and recommendations. Key deliverables of this role will include: Producing project & individual technical design documents. Hands-on, writing and reviewing code. Must have strong technical knowledge in the following areas: Javascript/react.js/node.js/typescript HTML and CSS RESTful APIs Experience with OpenFin will be very highly regarded. Providing technical input to the strategic direction of technology investments. Identifying & assisting in mitigating the impact of technology dependencies on solution delivery. Developing & implementing technology solutions in line with best practices and to agreed timeframes. Engaging with Architects, Consultants, Infrastructure and Security Specialists to provide a key link between the technical needs of the business and the solution design.
