The Business Operations Database Administrator role involves designing, implementing, and managing database systems to ensure their availability, performance, and security. This position requires extensive experience with SQL, Oracle, and NoSQL databases, as well as proficiency in database architecture, backup and recovery strategies, and security measures.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and has strong problem-solving skills. They should be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team, ensuring that database systems are optimized to meet the specific needs of various departments.
What Our Business Operations Technical Lead Will Do
- Own any development item from inception to completion
- Maintains an understanding and makes suggestions for improvements of current and future use of database systems.
- Develops, maintains, updates, and improves standard operating procedures for database set up and operation.
- Responsible for database design, software installation and upgrade, database backup, recovery, overall performance monitoring and database security.
- Provide software support for more complex issues, which may include application design, database query and procedure design.
- Perform analysis and end-to-end execution from roadmap to implementation of database consolidations, migrations, conversions, and upgrades
- Educate and influence stakeholders to promote an understanding of the environments, increase simplification, risk management, and promote reuse and innovation
- Maintain and develop database design within the business and IT teams to ensure system availability, performance, and data quality
- Proactively support capacity management to effectively utilize existing platforms and stand-up new environments, when necessary, based upon engineered solutions
- Provide input to management for budgeting process and make recommendations for data-related equipment, tools, and technologies as appropriate.
- Recommend and assist management with the creation and implementation of database strategies, policies, standards.
- Provide mentorship to team members
- Stay up to date on industry and job-related trends and best practices, including reading relevant publications, articles, blogs, etc.
- Other duties as assigned
Who We’re Looking For
- 7+ years’ experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field (equivalent work experience may be considered)
- Advanced knowledge and experience with:
- Oracle and SQL, technical database concepts, such as: logical relational data modeling, physical data modeling, tuning large instances, resource management, data replication and backup/recovery techniques
- Database administration/management experience; strong design/architecture, data migration, database performance & tuning, backup & recovery experience with multiple databases in large scale enterprise environments.
- Understanding Data base administration with applicable Server Integration Services and/or related technology. Strong Transact SQL skills, including coding/debugging/performance tuning of complex stored procedures.
- Innovative problem solving; research; analysis; critical thinking; risk assessment and decision-making skills for complex database administration and related issues.
