Summary

Capstone IT is partnering with an organization that partners with various government agencies to fill a Lead DBA position. Our Client is seeking a Lead Database Administrator to manage a team of DBAs and Sr. DBAs responsible for supporting a high-volume federal application environment consisting of over 1,000 active databases and petabytes of critical data. The ideal candidate will provide leadership across cloud migration, ETL execution, performance tuning, and data integrity operations while ensuring high availability, compliance, and service delivery excellence. Please note this is a Direct Hire position, and requires that candidate be a US Citizen. We are unable to work with 3rd parties for this opening.


Responsibilities

  • Lead administration and optimization of SQL Server environments across hybrid AWS and Azure platforms supporting a large-scale application ecosystem.
  • Direct efforts across database monitoring, incident response, ETL operations, and database DevSecOps automation.
  • Oversee delivery of SOPs, performance dashboards, optimization recommendations, and cloud migration strategies.
  • Coordinate with application teams to ensure database solutions align with evolving system demands and security requirements.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of enterprise DBA experience
  • 2+ years proven leadership experience
  • Bachelors Degree in related field (Additional experience will be considered in lieu of degree)
  • Proven track record supporting vast database landscapes across multiple tenants and data centers.
  • Advanced knowledge of Azure DevOps for CI/CD database deployments and automation.
  • Strong expertise with AWS-native database services (RDS, Aurora), SSIS/SSRS, and SQL performance tuning.
  • Familiarity with data governance, compliance frameworks (FedRAMP/NIST), and hybrid-cloud design.
  • Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance
  • Previous Federal Consulting Experience
