Job Description


Team Leadership & Management:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data modelers, ensuring high performance and continuous skill development.
  • Manage workloads, priorities, and deliverables for the team, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Establish best practices, frameworks, and processes for data modeling across the organization.


Data Modeling & Design:

  • Oversee the development of conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support business and technical requirements.
  • Ensure data entities, attributes, relationships, and constraints are well-defined and consistently maintained.
  • Standardize modeling approaches for relational (OLTP), dimensional (OLAP), and NoSQL databases.


Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Work closely with Data Architects, Data Engineers, and Business Analysts to ensure data models meet business needs.
  • Engage with business leaders and product owners to translate requirements into scalable data structures.
  • Collaborate with governance teams to enforce data standards, metadata management, and compliance.


Governance & Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure adherence to enterprise data governance policies, including naming conventions, data definitions, and documentation standards.
  • Partner with Data Stewards to maintain data consistency and improve data quality.
  • Maintain data dictionaries, lineage tracking, and metadata repositories.


Optimization & Performance:

  • Guide the team in optimizing queries, indexing strategies, and data structures for performance and scalability.
  • Support data warehousing, reporting, and advanced analytics use cases, including AI/ML.
  • Drive the adoption of modern modeling techniques such as Data Vault, star/snowflake schema, and normalization/denormalization strategies.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in data modeling, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in relational (OLTP), dimensional (OLAP), and NoSQL data modeling.
  • Strong SQL and data analysis skills, with experience in query performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of data governance, metadata management, and enterprise data management principles.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
  • Ability to translate business needs into scalable and efficient data models.
  • Experience working in a structured environment with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
  • Experience in various Data Modelling techniques and strategies to serve various scenarios and use cases.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Snowflake and cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
  • Knowledge of finance or banking data models and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with data lineage, business glossaries, and data dictionaries.
  • Experience in managing data modeling tools and repository solutions.
  • Strong ability to work across business and technical teams to drive data initiatives.
