Position Overview:

Role: Lead Data Engineer (EL1 equivalent)

Contract Duration: Initially 12 months, with up to 3 extensions of 12 months each.

Estimated Start Date: Tuesday, 01 July 2025

Location: Hybrid (Canberra office or remotely anywhere in Australia, with occasional Canberra visits up to two times per year at the candidates expense)

Hours: Maximum 40 hours/week

Security Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership for ETL development and production support.
• Maintain and manage infrastructure such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines.
• Integrate data workflows with other platforms such as SharePoint and SAP.
• Document workflows for knowledge transfer and provide technical mentoring to team members.
  
  
  

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Agile team collaboration, strong communication, and documentation skills (40%).
• Expertise in data analysis, problem-solving, and ETL development including design, building, testing, and deploying data workflows (30%).
• Specific technical experience with AWS technologies and data management tools:
• AWS Glue, AWS DMS, Apache Parquet, AWS Lambda, AWS SageMaker, OpenSearch/ElasticSearch, PySpark, Logstash, Iceberg (30%).
  
  
  

Desirable Experience:

• Database design, Oracle DBMSs, Elasticsearch DBMSs, Azure services, data load/migration projects, data profiling, and data quality analysis.
• Familiarity with Informatica tools (IICS, PowerCenter, Developer, Analyst, or MDM).
