About This Opportunity


Job Title: Lead Data Engineer

Location: Bangalore, India


Job Description:


As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing complex data workflows and big data systems. Your expertise in cloud platforms, data pipeline development, and distributed technologies will play a crucial role in delivering scalable and high-performance data solutions. You will drive best practices in software engineering and API development while mentoring and leading a team of engineers. Your goal will be to create extendable, reusable components that ensure the robustness, scalability, and maintainability of the applications you build.


Responsibilities:


Lead the design and development of data workflows and big data systems, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

Architect and implement data pipelines using Spark, Databricks, and Azure cloud technologies.

Ensure smooth integration and optimal use of relational (Oracle/Postgres) and NoSQL (Cassandra/MongoDB/DynamoDB) databases.

Provide leadership in system design and overall architecture, ensuring solutions meet business and technical requirements.

Mentor and guide team members, helping them develop their technical and professional skills.

Lead the creation and maintenance of reusable and extendable service components for the data platform.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.

Drive the implementation of CI/CD pipelines and testing frameworks to ensure high-quality development and deployment processes.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, adapting quickly to new tools and practices to improve data systems and engineering processes.


Technical Skills Required:


  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering or software development.
  • 4+ years of experience in building data workflows and big data systems.
  • 2+ years of experience working with Azure cloud and Databricks setup.
  • 4+ years of experience in developing data pipelines using Spark framework.
  • Strong expertise in relational databases (Oracle/Postgres) and NoSQL databases (Cassandra/MongoDB/DynamoDB).
  • In-depth experience with distributed technologies such as Kafka, Spark, and Zookeeper.
  • Solid experience in system design and architectural principles.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline tools such as GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, etc.
  • Strong background in testing frameworks to ensure code quality and maintainability.
  • Expertise in version control using Git (GitLab).
  • Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal), capable of interacting with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in translating business requirements into technical deliverables.
  • Familiarity with the retail industry, particularly e-commerce applications.


Education:


Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field (or equivalent experience).
