Summary

One of our Federal government clients seeking to engage a Lead Data Analyst at Canberra location.


Role: Lead Data Analyst - (EL1 Level)

Location of work: Canberra

Length of contract: 12 months

Contract extensions: 24 months extension (two extensions of twelve months each)

Security clearance: Must have Baseline security clearance

Data Analysts the design, analysis and delivery of relevant, trusted and objective statistics and data-related insights

Key duties and responsibilities

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

  • Performing data interrogation, validation, dash boarding and modelling using efficient and effective SQL;
  • Producing analytical work that is customer focused;
  • Discovering trends, patterns and stories told by the data, structured and unstructured, and presenting them to stakeholders;
  • Leveraging new open data sources and extracting further value from existing data;
  • Producing creative data visualizations and intuitive graphics to presenting complex analytics;
  • Working with IT teams, management and/or data scientists to determine organisational goals;
  • Mining data from primary and secondary sources;
  • Cleaning and pruning data to discard irrelevant information;
  • Analysing and interpreting results using standard statistical tools and techniques;
  • Pinpointing trends, correlations and patterns in complicated data sets;
  • Identifying new opportunities for process improvement;
  • Design and develop Business Objects Reports to display data based on templates and parameters from Siebel applications.
  • Designing, creating and maintaining relational databases and data systems;
  • Triaging code problems and data-related issues;
  • Building or designing data input or data collection screens;
  • Applying data quality techniques to cleanse data and providing feedback for ETL / Data quality solutions.Undertaking strategic planning, mapping and modelling development;
  • Organising, facilitating and co-facilitating workshops to extract business requirements and defining new or improved business processes;
  • Managing multiple tasks with competing priorities and deadlines.

Specified Personnel will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff and ensure appropriate documentation is stored in accordance with the Department’s recordkeeping policy and practices.


The Specified Personnel will be responsible for producing the following deliverables, including but not limited to:

• Technical Specifications;

• Technical design and matrix;

• Architectural documents;

• System Design Specifications;

• Work flows, events and sequence diagrams;

• Environment Context Definitions;

• Use Case model and Use Case Specifications;

• High level and detailed business requirements.


All deliverables performed by the specified personnel must:

  1. be performed or delivered promptly and without delay in accordance with the timeframes notified by the buyer from time to time; and
  2. meet the assessment and performance criteria set out in any monitoring and performance assessment processes notified to the seller from time to time.


Essential criteria

1. Proficiency in Siebel Tools for configuration and customisation

2. Experience with various Business Objects tools and applications, including Web Intelligence (WEBI), Crystal Reports etc.

3. Experience in designing and developing universes (data models) to support reporting needs.

4. Knowledge of data warehouse and data mart concepts, including data modelling and ETL processes.

5. Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and processes for data integration.

6. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

1. Experience working in large government organisations.

2. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

3. Excellent organisational and time management skills

4. Strong ability to manage competing priorities, with a strong sense of accountability and urgency
