What is your impact?
Join us to drive innovation and excellence in critical infrastructure projects! As a Civil and Structural Engineer, you take the helm of Civil & Structural engineering projects that span a diverse and exciting range! You'll lead the coordination and execution of Air Insulated Switchgear (AIS) and Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) substations within the 34.5kV – 550kV range. But that's not all—your expertise will also drive the electrification of railways and the advancement of Renewable Energy Substations. Your mission? To ensure every project is a beacon of safety, cost efficiency, quality, and reliability.
What will you do?
- Project Collaboration: Communicate effectively with ABB and customer personnel to coordinate and resolve project-related activities and issues.
- Innovation and Cost Savings: Support proposal efforts by introducing innovative, cost-saving ideas and value-added solutions.
- Marketing Activities: Engage in tender processing, preparing costing sheets, sending RFQs to contractors, reviewing quotations, and responding to queries.
- On-Site Assessments: Evaluate existing equipment, steel structures, and foundations in "brown field" substation projects.
- Sub-Contractor Bids: Validate construction sub-contractor bids and negotiate sub-contracts for electrical substations and switchyard projects.
- Project Execution: Prepare, update, and support the execution of civil and structural engineering activities, emphasizing on-time delivery, quality, and cost management.
- Design Criteria: Collaborate with the project lead engineer to develop design criteria and document deliverables.
- Engineering Support: Provide support in areas such as substation/switchyard arrangement review, quantity estimation, grading and drainage design, foundation calculations, steel structure design, building design, equipment specifications, seismic qualification, and material specifications.
- Issue Resolution: Address civil and structural design issues identified by the project execution team.
- Technical Reviews: Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages.
- Compliance: Ensure designs comply with national and local standards and codes.
- Department Goals: Assist the department manager in meeting goals.
- Quality Processes: Adhere to quality processes and document control procedures.
- Field Support: Provide construction and field engineering support during the construction stage and manage changes.
Who you are?
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in foundation, reinforced concrete, and steel design or a master's degree in civil engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience in foundation, reinforced concrete, and steel design.
- GIS Applications: Experience with both outdoor and indoor GIS applications, including necessary building infrastructure for indoor GIS (e.g., foundation requirements, wall penetrations, embedded steel supports, overhead cranes, maintenance access).
- HV Power Cable Systems: Expertise in cable vault layouts, cable restraint design, and GIS sealing end/air termination applications
- Civil & Structural Design: Specialization in civil and structural design for high voltage substations and transmission lines, with additional experience in industrial facilities or power plants.
- Geotechnical Knowledge: Understanding of geotechnical site surveys, earthworks, site grading, and drainage.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in Structural Analysis and Design Software (STAAD, SAP2000), CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation), and Microsoft Office Suites.
- Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25%, both domestically and internationally.
