We’re Hiring: Lead Architect

We're looking for a Lead Architect who’s excited about design, detail, and the process of turning ideas into buildings.

At mayaPRAXIS, we believe architecture is a collaborative craft. No one works in isolation — we build on each other’s ideas and support each other through every stage of the process. Everyone contributes to the bigger picture.

As a Lead Architect (LA), you'll take the lead on 1 to 3 projects (medium to large in scale). You'll guide the project from early concept all the way to site execution, with support from the Studio Director and Principals. You'll also be working closely with a project team — collaborating, coordinating, and keeping things moving.

• Lead early concept design and help shape design direction
• Oversee design detailing and development, making sure things work both creatively and practically

• Manage drawing and modeling work across all phases of the project
• Support juniors in creating visuals — from presentation graphics to renders

• Choose the right materials, finishes, and construction methods
• Study codes, site conditions, and other technical inputs — and help guide others in the process

• Lead the production of detailed drawings and construction documents
• Prepare presentations, reports, and quantities
• Review and redline drawings from the team and consultants
  

• Be the point person between consultants, engineers, vendors, and clients
• Solve issues as they come up — both design and technical
• Take notes in meetings, communicate clearly over email/phone, and stay on top of project coordination
• Help with consultant work orders, billing, and keeping the paperwork in check
  

• Visit the site regularly, track progress, and flag issues
• Review construction quality and help manage any changes needed during execution
  

• Plan daily and weekly tasks for the team
• Track deliverables and timelines — both internal and external
  

We're looking for someone who:

• Can confidently lead projects while keeping the team motivated and aligned
• Has a strong design sensibility but also understands how things get built
• Communicates clearly and brings people together
• Is good at spotting challenges early — and solving them collaboratively
• Enjoys mentoring junior architects and sharing knowledge
