Mid-level Laravel / PHP Developer

Overview

Salary: Between £38k-£52k depending on qualifications, experience, and team-fit.

Position type: Full time. Initial 6-month fixed term contract, with an expectation to becoming permanent.

Location: South West, UK (Hybrid). Remote first working with occasional days in Exeter.

The Job

We’re looking for a full-time mid-level PHP / Laravel developer to join our small Product Development team. Your day to day will be developing our SaaS platform, delivering value to our business customers and creating a flawless experience for our public end users.

We love to support people in their personal development, so there will be numerous opportunities to work on a wide range of projects that interest you, and to start to take responsibility and ownership of elements of our product as you develop and grow within the business.

We mainly work remotely, but meet in the Exeter office at least monthly, and you may work there whenever suits you.

Your experience

Please demonstrate your relevant experience in your CV – ideally with some examples of your work that we can check out, such as a personal website, project, or GitHub profile.

Must haves

Please ensure that you meet the following criteria and evidence them in your CV before applying, as we are unable to be flexible on these requirements.

• 3+ years of back-end web-development experience in PHP using a framework such as Laravel.
• 3+ years of DevOps experience on Linux systems, such as using bash, git, and SSH.
• Experience in containerised development using Docker.
• A deep understanding of how the web works – how client requests get sent and fulfilled, authentication, HTTP status codes, etc.

Nice-to-have

Experience you have in these areas will strengthen your application, but we won’t rule out candidates without them if they bring other skills and experience to the table.

• Experience using the Laravel framework for back-end development.
• Experience using Next, React, and TypeScript for front-end development.
• Experience deploying applications on headless servers, including using reverse proxies, networking between containers, and backing up databases and file-systems.
