* Laboratory Technician - $18.23 - $19.60 per hour
* Laboratory Technician II - $19.60 - $21.07 per hour
* Laboratory Technician III - $21.07 - $22.65 per hour
* Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The position (K0241842): Mobile Laboratory Technician: Will be dealing directly with the public. Must be available for travel with the potential for overnight stays. Will be deploying with (or without) the KDHE Mobile Laboratory to assist communities with their disease response or educational purposes. Drive Mobile Laboratory as needed. Enter patient demographics and collection info into iPad on site, and print barcode for tube. Run rapid testing on location or transport specimens back to the Lab in Topeka. Perform STAT specimen collections on site as needed. Assist education team as needed.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Data Entry: Enter (typing & scanning) into computer database all pertinent specimen/sample demographic information from submission forms and faxes submitted on day of receipt. Maintain knowledge of all laboratory programs (Health & Environment) and perform demographic data entry for all laboratory sections. Data entry errors shall not exceed 1% before checking and be totally error-free after checking. Responsible for accuracy of data transferred into laboratory information management system and responsible to identify and correct problems identified.
Filing and Records Storage: According to departmental and lab-wide protocols, ensure that all laboratory sample submission forms and accompanying paperwork are scanned into the laboratory's computer system and are available to staff through the laboratory's optical retrieval system; and available in an appropriate manual system according to the required holding times.

* Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.

* Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in microbiology, biology, or chemistry.
* Experience in laboratory procedure/analysis.
* Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:
* HIPPA training must be completed within one month of hire; Blood Borne Pathogens training and Shipping and Packing of Hazardous Materials; Category A Infectious Substances and Category B Biological and Chemical Substances must be completed within six months of hire.
