Purpose:

With limited supervision, the Associate will perform a variety of tasks in a core laboratory. The tasks may include, but not be limited to, reagent preparation, adherent and suspension (2D, 3d bioreactor) cell culture operations, supporting experiments and other lab work (cell culture, documentation, troubleshooting, data analysis, etc.)


Essential functions:

  • Produce differentiated cells using Pluripotent Stem Cells in accordance with SOPs and approved protocols in a cell culture core facility.
  • Weigh out chemicals, prepare medium and buffer solutions. Perform large scale filtration following detailed instructions.
  • Assist in all areas in support of cell culture operation and related duties as required including (stocking, tracking inventory, material movement, filling out log sheets, and other special projects).
  • Troubleshoot technical process and equipment problems.
  • Identify and troubleshoot technical issues with the process and equipment.
  • Provide support for other facility start-up activities, as needed. Support MSAT and assay services team in processing or analytical methods.
  • Order laboratory supplies and reagents.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams i.e. Process Development etc.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as required.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks and documents. Perform tasks related to equipment maintenance and Core Facility upkeep.
  • Support business goals, share learnings, knowledge and skills, and cross-functional teamwork


Physical requirements:

  • Physical Requirement Details Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
  • Ability to work outside of normal working hours as required to process the cells.
  • Ability to do repetitive work, requiring strong dexterity and hand/eye coordination.


Qualifications:

  • Education Level: BS or AS in a life sciences field.
  • Experience Level: BS with 5+ years or AS with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Specific or technical job skills:
  • 2+ years of experience handling mammalian cells is required.
  • Knowledge of aseptic conduct and technique is preferred.
  • Experience writing standard operating procedures and maintaining the lab notebook is preferred.
  • Highly motivated and comfortable working in a results-oriented dynamic research and development environment is required.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams consisting of members with different degrees of knowledge or ability is required.
  • Good oral and written communication skills in English is required .
