Summary

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary onsite IT support for laboratory operations, maintaining smooth day-to-day functioning of IT systems and hardware.
  • Install, configure, and maintain end-user workstations, lab computers, peripherals, and software.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to laboratory scientists and staff, troubleshooting hardware and software issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with laboratory users to understand specific scientific workflows and translate them into IT solutions.
  • Support and integrate laboratory instruments with scientific data systems such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems) and ELN (Electronic Lab Notebooks).
  • Manage user accounts, access controls, roles, and permissions in lab-specific applications and IT infrastructure.
  • Ensure seamless system connectivity and data exchange between on-premise infrastructure and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
  • Implement and maintain robust backup, data retention, and disaster recovery protocols to ensure secure storage and retrieval of critical laboratory data.
  • Recommend, plan, and execute hardware and software upgrades, patches, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain asset inventory, technical documentation, and support logs.
  • Ensure compliance with internal security policies, data integrity protocols, and external regulatory requirements (e.g., GxP, HIPAA if applicable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • IT support experience, ideally in a laboratory, biotech, or healthcare environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of integrating scientific instruments with LIMS/ELN platforms.
  • Proven experience supporting Windows-based systems, Active Directory, networked devices, and cloud services (Azure/AWS).
  • Hands-on experience with PC imaging, hardware setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
