Job Title: Laboratory Technologist
Job Description
The primary role of a Laboratory Technologist is to perform routine medical laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases. This position involves working in a fast-paced laboratory environment with high daily volumes, focusing on high complexity testing for pain management in urine samples. The laboratory utilizes over 30 LC-MS/MS instrument platforms and Ascent cloud-based processing. Technologists are responsible for the instrumentation and data analysis of four separate ancillary confirmation methods beyond the primary panel of 180+ analytes.
Responsibilities
* Receive specimens for testing, evaluate specimens and test orders, and determine the priority of work and batches to maintain acceptable turnaround times.
* Recognize unacceptable and unusual specimens and handle them appropriately.
* Adhere to SOP while performing extractions and analysis on client samples, quality control samples, and proficiency samples.
* Prepare laboratory reagents and standard solutions according to SOP.
* Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy, recognize and correct errors and unusual results, and interpret results to produce a final report.
* Use GDP in all documentation.
* Maintain, calibrate, and clean laboratory instruments, perform scheduled/routine maintenance and critical function checks, and troubleshoot significant changes in instrument function.
* Follow quality control rules, monitor controls for error detection, and take corrective action.
* Maintain laboratory records, maintenance logs, quality control logs, reagent and standard logs, and worksheets.
Essential Skills
* Proficient in operating, calibrating, and maintaining LC-MS/MS instruments.
* Ability to set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
* Strong analytical skills to analyze test results and experiments for conformity to specifications using mechanical and electrical devices.
* Capability to analyze, gather, and record test data to issue comprehensive reports.
* Knowledge of obtaining, cultivating, isolating, and identifying microorganisms for analysis.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a science-related field such as Biology, Chemistry, Genetics, Plant Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Medical Technology, or Clinical Laboratory Science.
* Attention to detail verified by references.
* Problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
* Experience working in a repetitive, fast-paced, or high-volume role, such as in the serving or food industry.
* Understanding the importance of accurate results and commitment to producing them.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.10 - $23.10/hr.
