KCERA Network Engineer: $2,213.71 - $2,645.59 Biweekly
KCERA Senior Network Engineer: $ 3,217.91 - $3,845.70 Biweekly
Examinations
Appraisal (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of evaluating the applicant's training, education, experience, interest and personal fitness for the position. Appraisal can be based on any combination of the following: Investigation, oral exam, and/or rating of the application.
Q ualified candidates will be notified of the testing date five days prior to the examination.
Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.
Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards
KCERA Network Engineer
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including 15 semester (25 quarter) units in computer science or management information systems AND one (1) year of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity; OR Completion of (60) semester (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university with course work in computer science or management information systems AND three (3) years of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity; OR Five (5) years of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity.
KCERA Senior Network Engineer
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree, including 15 semester (25 quarter) units in computer science or management information systems AND four (4) years of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity; OR Completion of (60) semester (90) quarter units from an accredited college or university with course work in computer science or management information systems AND six (6) years of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity; OR six (6) years of paid experience in a complex IT environment utilizing principles and techniques which include system support, troubleshooting and resolution of network problems, and managing or coordinating network technology implementations for a department or organization with increasing levels of complexity OR three (3) years of experience as a KCERA Network Engineer.
- Qualifying experience must have been within the last five (5) years.
Both Levels
Applicants must possess the physical capacity to perform all essential tasks.
Valid California Class "C" Driver's License is required at the time of appointment

Admittance to the examination will require a valid government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.
A background check may be conducted for this classification. Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.
This examination will establish an eligible list from which immediate appointment(s) will be made. Other permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve-months, unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.
