We design, manufacture, and support advanced equipment sensing and analysis products, including on-line oil debris sensors, torque measurement sensors, turbine blade health sensors, and at-line oil analysis systems.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Junior Test Engineer will report to the Manager of Test Engineering and will have a wide range of duties which ultimately focuses on the verification of Gastops hardware and software products, and for the systems engineering of tools (jigs) used to perform these verifications and for the manufacturing of the products themselves.

What You’ll Do:

The Junior Test Engineer will be a member of a multi-disciplinary Test Engineering team which is responsible for developing and executing Design Verification Programs, and for the design and sustainment of the jigs and fixtures required to verify, validate, troubleshoot, and manufacture Gastops products.

You will:

  • Prepare verification plans, design verification cases, and develop detailed procedures for design verification, qualification, and acceptance.
  • Execute verification programs and report findings.
  • Ensure that manufacturing and test jigs are developed in accordance with good engineering practice, including design requirements, design documentation, and maintenance, calibration, and validation methods.
  • Ensure products are designed for test.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) programs and ensure that product requirements cover design for test and interfaces to design and manufacturing jigs and fixtures.
  • Evaluate product failures through design of experiments, data analysis, or structured tear-down processes to determine root-cause.
  • Promote and support new technology, test methodology, and process initiatives in the Test Engineering Group

Who You Are:

  • Skilled and experienced in mechanical, electronic, and/or software test technology, methods, and processes.
  • Experienced in design of experiments or the development of product verification test programs.
  • Experience in electronic test automation system design, and/or test implementation within an automated test framework.
  • Versed in electro-mechanical and/or opto-mechanical components, sub-assembly, and system design or testing.
  • Experienced in the application, design, or testing of sensors/transducers, measurement instrumentation, or integrated systems.
  • Strong and clear communicator able to communicate high level recommendations succinctly
  • Capable technical writer and presenter able to succinctly summarize Engineering details and analyses.


What You Should Bring:

The ideal candidate will have an Engineering or equivalent degree with 0-3 years of experience in the application, design, or testing of electro- or opto-mechanical systems. Additionally, you should have:

  • Experience in interpreting and applying international test standards (ASTM, DO-160, MIL, etc...) for acceptance and qualification of industrial, military, and/or aerospace products.
  • Experienced in the design, certification, or application of high reliability aerospace or other (i.e. automotive/medical) products.
  • Experience with the design or application of sensitive instrumentation or measurement devices.
  • Experienced in the application of electronic, mechanical, and/or environmental test and measurement technology.


Complimentary Experience:

Additional consideration will be given to candidates having experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Laser-based spectroscopy techniques and methods
  • Aircraft sensors and systems
  • Particle and wear analysis applications
  • Data analysis and visualization, or condition assessment applications
  • Gas Turbine Engines or Rotating Machinery
