About Us
At the Lake Forest Ice Palace, we don’t just teach skating — we build confidence, character, and a love for the ice. We’re a supportive team of coaches and skaters who believe in creating a fun, inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. If you’re a skilled skater who loves working with kids, we’d love to have you join us as a Junior Coach!
What You’ll Be Doing:
As a Junior Coach, you’ll be right in the action — helping little ones take their first steps on the ice, demonstrating cool moves, and being a friendly, positive role model. You’ll work closely with our senior coaching staff and get real hands-on experience both on and off the ice.
On the Ice:
Assist with beginner and Basic Skills group classes
Demonstrate skills and drills for skaters
Help skaters stay safe, motivated, and having fun
Support coaches in keeping class organized and moving smoothly
Assist with on-ice set up
Off the Ice:
Tie skates and offer encouragement
Pitch in during events like competitions, shows, and test days
Attend trainings and team huddles to grow your skills
You’d Be a Great Fit If You:
Are at least 16+ years old
Have competitive and USFS testing experience
Are upbeat, dependable, and great with kids
Take direction well and love being part of a team
**Bonus points if you already have your Learn to Skate USA Assistant Coach certification — but if not, we’ll help you get there.
