Wilhelmsen Global Business Services (WGBS) is looking for a
Junior Network Specialist.
Mission - ensure the availability, implementation and maintenance of IT network infrastructure operation. The primary focus is to provide support and management and to optimize and deliver a secure network across the digital infrastructure.
Who will you work with? You will be part of an international team, working closely with the Networks Subject Matter Expert (SME) and reporting to the Digital Workspace Manager. The Site Networks team is part of GBS Tech, that consists of a multi-disciplined team with over 45 individuals spread across the world where we take pride in collaborating on modern day initiatives.
What you will work on:
- Deploying and managing Network Physical Appliances in offices worldwide using a Cisco Meraki cloud managed network (e.g. operating next-gen security appliances, switches and access-points) to ensure an optimal network performance and security.
- Transition traditional networks to cloud managed networks
- Assist in automating network infrastructure configuration & deployment
- Schedule and oversee the installation of software updates on office network infrastructure devices
- Assist in operating Microsoft Teams Phone and the transition of traditional PBX systems to Microsoft Teams Phone solutions (e.g. Direct Routing and Operator Connect)
- Collaborate with 3rd party vendors (e.g. Internet Service Providers, Cable contractors) to deliver an office network and maintain comprehensive records
- Collaborate with Network Engineers to document network architecture, configurations, and processes to ensure seamless knowledge transfer and maintain comprehensive records
- Utilize network monitoring and logging tools to maintain network integrity, identify potential weaknesses, and implement appropriate corrective measures
- Converge IT, IoT and OT networks
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to understand client requirements and ensure secure, scalable, and reliable office network solutions
- Monitor and troubleshoot network-related issues, conduct performance analysis, and proactively resolve incidents to maintain high availability and performance
- Stay up to date with the latest security vulnerabilities, technological trends and best practices in in managing office networks, as well as proactively recommending and implementing improvements to enhance service offerings
What you need to succeed in the role:
- Relevant degree in IT with at least +1-year experience operating traditional network and -or cloud managed network environments.
- General understanding of VoIP and FoIP solutions
- Experience with ITIL best practices
- Understanding of OSI and TCP/IP models, WLAN deployments, layer 2 and layer 3 routing and network inter-connectivity solutions (SDWAN, IP-SEC, SSL-VPN) used to connect office networks
- Passion and interest working with automation and scripting (e.g. Python, API)
- Good problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and provide effective solutions.
- Strong communication (e.g. written and speaking) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams
- Great in presenting, planning and experience with working in a project
- The will and the ability to travel cross-country and -or cross-borders
- The will and the ability to work flexible hours (e.g. early mornings, late evenings)
