Job Description

As a Junior Estimator, you will support the estimating team in the preparation of cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including roadway, bridge, utility, earthwork, and infrastructure scopes. This entry-level role is ideal for a detail-oriented and motivated individual with a strong interest in construction estimating, quantity takeoffs, and cost analysis. You will work closely with senior estimators, project managers, and engineers to contribute to competitive and accurate bids.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of detailed cost estimates for self-perform and subcontracted work
• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications
• Organize and maintain historical cost data and unit pricing databases
• Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier quotes
• Assist in developing scopes of work and bid comparisons
• Participate in pre-biding meetings, sit visits, and risk evaluations
• Support the creation of bid packages, and proposals documents
• Track addenda, RFI responses, and design changes during the bidding phase
• Collaborate with the operations team to transition awarded projects
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the estimating team
  
  

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of experience in estimating, field engineering, or construction project support
• Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications and civil construction methods
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam) is a plus
• Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a deadline – driven environment
  
  

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
