Summary

Job Purpose The Junior Estimator will assist in the preparation of cost estimates for electrical construction projects. This role supports the estimating team by gathering and analyzing data, preparing bid proposals, and providing administrative assistance in all aspects of the estimating process. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in electrical systems, excellent attention to detail, and a desire to develop within the estimating field. Benefits Company Provided Benefits (no cost to employees) * Medical Insurance with Prescription Drug coverage * Dental and Vision Insurance * Employee Stock Ownership Plan * Paid Time Off * Mileage Allowance * Life/AD&D * Short- and Long-Term Disability * Employee Assistance Program * LifeLock subscription Voluntary Benefits * 401k * Supplemental Life and AD&D for employees and dependents Duties and Responsibilities * Assist with the preparation of detailed cost estimates for electrical construction projects, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs * Review project specifications, blueprints, and drawings to assess project requirements and identify potential cost-saving opportunities * Work closely with estimators and senior estimators to help collect data and perform calculations needed for accurate bids * Perform take-offs from drawings to determine quantities and material requirements * Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain quotes and pricing for materials, equipment, and services * Assist in bid proposal preparation, ensuring all necessary documentation is included and deadlines are met * Prepare and organize supporting documentation for estimates, including cost breakdowns and scope of work details * Support the estimating team in reviewing project schedules and timelines to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals * Participate in site visits when required to better understand project scope and requirements * Maintain and update estimating calendar and spreadsheets * Create bid letters, bid forms and scope letters for projects to be bid * Other duties assigned by manager Required Qualifications * High School Diploma or equivalent * A willingness to learn and grow within the estimating field, taking on increasing responsibility over time. * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel * Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. * Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and suppliers. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. * Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record * Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Preferred Qualifications * Associate's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. * Basic knowledge of electrical systems and construction methods. * Strong foundation in math, particularly in calculations related to measurements, materials, and costs. * Up to 2 years of experience in estimating, construction, or electrical contracting. * Familiarity with electrical take-off methods and estimation software (e.g., Accubid, Procore, or Bluebeam). * Understanding of cost control practices and budget management in the construction industry. * Certification in Construction Estimating (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator - CPE) is a plus. * Experience with project management software and ERP systems. Physical Requirements and Work Conditions Physical demands within this position include but are not limited to: frequent standing, sitting, walking, listening, talking, using the telephone, focusing, and climbing different types of ladders and stairs, using depth perception, working in different weather conditions and using office equipment, lifting up to 20+ pounds when needed and the use of hands to handle or touch objects/controls. Local travel to various worksites is required at least 30%. Long periods of time spent on the computer, typing, using the telephone, stooping, bending, reaching above shoulders, and walking on uneven surfaces at job sites may be required. The position requires Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) use such as safety glasses, vest, hard hat, ear plugs, and safety shoes when needed.
