Caterra, an ETH Zurich spinoff, is building scalable alternatives to manual labor in agriculture. Our laser-based robots remove weeds with high precision, even those close to crops—something mechanical tools can’t do. Your Role

You’ll support our Computer Vision & Machine Learning Lead by managing and automating data pipelines, coordinating labeling efforts, and maintaining data quality. You’ll be a key player in ensuring the success of our machine learning models through high-quality datasets and efficient workflows.

Your Responsibilities

🧠Data & Workflow Management

• Plan and coordinate field data collection
• Manage datasets using FiftyOne: prune, clean, and validate metadata
• Maintain and iterate on active learning workflows with Lightly.ai

🧪Labeling Operations

• Oversee labeling quality and consistency
• Collaborate with customers and labeling teams
• Onboard new crops and refine/automate pre-labeling processes

📈 Model & Dataset Support

• Improve dataset quality through automated and manual re-evaluation
• Support scalable data processes for continuous model training

Your Profile

🎓 Background

• minimum Bachelor’s degree in CS, Data Science, Engineering, or similar
• Fluent in English (preferred: german fluent as well)

💻 Technical Skills

• Solid Python experience for automation and data wrangling
• Git for version control
• Familiarity with data science workflows
• (Bonus) Experience with FiftyOne, Lightly, or ML/Data pipelines

🧩 Soft Skills

• Structured, self-driven, and reliable
• Great communicator with technical and non-technical teams
• Comfortable in dynamic, fast-moving environments

📚 Experience

• Internships or personal projects in data science, engineering, or similar
• Experience working with real-world datasets or pipelines is a plus
• (Bonus) Background in agriculture or applied CV/ML
