Job Description:
A Junior Systems Engineer is an entry-level position in the field of systems engineering. Systems engineering is a discipline that focuses on designing, integrating, and managing complex systems throughout their entire lifecycle. These systems can range from computer systems and software applications to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Supporting Senior Engineers: Junior Systems Engineers often work closely with more experienced engineers to learn and assist in various tasks related to system design, development, and maintenance.
* Documentation: They may be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation, including system design specifications, process documentation, and configuration management records.
* Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues with systems, applications, or infrastructure components. This may involve troubleshooting hardware or software problems.
* Testing: Conducting tests and quality assurance activities to ensure that systems meet performance and reliability standards.
* System Maintenance: Assisting in routine system maintenance tasks, such as updates, patches, and backups.
* Collaboration: Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, and project managers, to ensure systems meet project requirements.
* Requirements Analysis: Participating in requirements gathering and analysis to understand the needs of the system users and stakeholders.
* Research: Staying updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to contribute to the improvement of systems and processes.
Desired Skills
* Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Nutanix)
* Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
* Experience with networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
* Experience with security technologies (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption)
* Experience with programming languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field
* 2-3 years of experience in system administration or a related field
* Strong knowledge of operating systems, software, and hardware
* Experience with system troubleshooting and problem solving
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
