Job Description
The Network Engineer Intern will be primarily responsible for assisting in maintaining and managing a predominately large-scale Cisco/Meraki network. The position will work closely with various functional groups and interact with internal clients, providing exceptional service in an efficient and effective manner. The Network Engineer Intern must have Cisco/Meraki Network and VOIP education exposure at a minimum
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Assist in centrally managing the processes for network configuration and optimization
- Assistant Jr. Architect and maintain network solutions for a VOIP/MPLS data and voice network
- Support internal clients and provide status, progress, and results to their senior Engineer mentor
- Assist in successfully manages the installations, upgrades, and maintenance of Cisco/Meraki routers and switches
- Evaluates network performance and identifies operational problems
- Provides assistance in Traffic engineering/shaping in fully converged network / Models / Best Practices
- Assist with the implementation of progressive technology projects accordingly
- Assist in Management of wireless and VPN infrastructure
- Execute basic troubleshooting skills in network data infrastructure (Cisco/Meraki Routers and APs)
- Work with Firewalls and communications infrastructure
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Validation of Cisco and/or Meraki CCNA Certification
Education
- Problem solving and project management skills with acute attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines
- Communication skills - listening, written, and verbal
- Education level exposure to Cisco/Meraki routers and switches
- Knowledge of IP routing and VLANS
- Knowledge with protocolsIGRP, OSPF, EGP, EIGRP, BGP, IPsec
- Education on installing, upgrading, and maintaining Cisco WAP products- Cisco and Meraki
- Education on Network Protocols TCP/IP / SIP / MGCP / SCCP / MPLS
- Education withCisco ASA firewall, VPN IPSEC configuration, Meraki MX routers/firewalls, switches and APsand PaloAlto firewall
- Ability to communicate both internally and externally with individuals at all levels of an organization
- Exposure on MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Visio, and Project)
- Self-motivating, analytical, and proactive team player
Desired Education
- Cisco 6807, Cisco Nexus, Cisco ISE, SolarWinds
- Working towards or in possession of Cisco Certifications CCNP / CCNA / CCVP Certified Professional
- Working knowledge of WAN technologies (Gigaman and MPLS)
- Working knowledge of Secure Voice concepts and processes
- Experience with SDWAN, Cisco SDWAN or Meraki
