Job Description

The Oracle Analytics Cloud Service, one of Oracle’s leading cloud offering, is a strategic growth product for Oracle. Its data visualization and business intelligence platform reinvent analytics, simplifying how customers analyze and act on information, across their entire organization.

As a member of the Oracle Analytics Cloud engineering team, participate in software development and delivery lifecycle of the Analytics service ranging from architecture, design, development, lifecycle management and deployment of Oracle Analytics on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. We are looking for hands-on engineers with expertise and passion in solving difficult problems in all areas of software engineering: distributed systems, security, observability, and cloud infrastructure. This is an opportunity to design and build secure, compliant, robust and scalable cloud centric applications. You will be part of a team of experienced, motivated, diverse set of people, and given the autonomy as well as support to do your best work. This is a great opportunity to work on the bleeding edge backend and cloud technologies, including Java, OCI, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform and more. Job Requirements:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with both business and Development/Engineering staff at all levels including the executive level.
  • Solid analytical, planning, and interpersonal skills with an ability to handle competing demands.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business needs and ability to establish/maintain high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Solid practical understanding of software development process
  • Experience leading technical design discussions and ability to summarize complex trade-offs and options in presentation and technical documentation.
  • Ability to effectively represent engineering perspectives to partner organizations, product teams, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to work across and engage individuals and teams located across multiple geographies and or cultures.
  • Balancing work as a lead individual contributor with providing direction and mentoring to others.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or related major
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills
  • Solid skills in Java software development
  • Knowledge of Linux/System and Shell scripting
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as a Service
  • Hands-on experience of one or more Public Cloud infrastructure (eg. Oracle, AWS, Azure)
  • Devops mindset to address real-time customer issues in production
  • Strong fundamentals and hands on experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Design, develop, troubleshoot and debug software programs for databases, applications, tools, networks etc.
  • Strong understanding of fundamental distributed system principles.


Desirable Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud networking constructs (VPCs, Nat GW, PC Peering, etc.)
  • Knowledge with the Linux OS and networking stack and tooling
  • Knowledge of CNI's on Kubernetes deployments (e.g. Calico, Cilium, Flannel, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and deliver new features on a world-class analytics platform suitable for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
  • Lead the creation of formal design specifications and development of complex systems, in particular in the Cloud infrastructure and orchestration space.
  • Work closely with the Product Management and technical leadership team on product requirements and functionality
  • Build software applications following established secure coding standards
  • Communicate continually with the project teams, explain progress on the development effort
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by suggesting improvements to software and deployment architecture or recommending new technologies
  • Participate in DevOps activities to maintain our fleet in Oracle Cloud
  • Work with support team to address customer issues
  • Ensure quality of work through development standards and QA procedures
  • Perform maintenance and enhancements on existing software
