About this Client Engagement

Phi Partners is collaborating with a leading Asian banking group since 2017, delivering services across FO eTrading Technology, Pricing & Risk, and FO Market Data fields.

Our client has undertaken a multi-year initiative to enhance their Front Office eTrading System, which we have been supporting since 2020 both across London and NY. The USA use a different instance, and we have been asked to allocate a team to support the design and development of this low-latency electronic trading platform for use of interest rate swaps, US treasuries and futures.

The initiative will primarily involve the quality enhancement of the legacy Raptor system, including the transition to a microservices based stack over a multi-year period. In addition, you will be working with the team to support increasing demand, implementation of new products and functionalities required by the business.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate directly with Traders, Quantitative, FO IT, Risk and compliance teams and leverage modern technologies, data and software architectures. We are looking for seasoned Java Developers to join our growing international team. This is a team of highly talented individuals, with the opportunity to foster innovation in the long term.

Key responsibilities include:

• Taking responsibility of effective software delivery for the pricing engine
• Provide work estimates as needed
• Develop system architectures, designs and concepts
• Maintaining and improving code quality using static and dynamic code analyses, security vulnerability scans, code coverage and CI/CD pipeline gating
• Take ownership of all implemented solutions, including minimising defects and managing incidents in the software
• Participate in all phases of software delivery lifecycle from analysis through support

The role will require strong collaboration with Front Office such as Traders / FO Developers (client facing responsibility) to deliver effective solutions. This will allow you to take ownership of more complex initiatives over time, as the team will grow organically under the guidance of senior leaders.

To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will be someone with a can-do attitude, keen to contribute to complex initiatives in a demanding FO Technology environment.

Essential skills:

• Strong proficiency in Java 11 / 17 and Spring
• Exposure to low-latency trading applications
• Ability to deliver solutions within a dynamic environment
• Experience with Monolith to Microservice based transformations

Nice to have:

• Spring (including Spring Boot and Spring Boot Actuator)
• Apache Camel (Version 3)
• REST API (including Enterprise Authentication and Authentication)
• Enterprise services (including monitoring, state management)
• JMS (Active MQ or similar)
• MS SQL Server and/or Sybase experience

Additional traits that could make you stand out:

• Experience designing, developing and maintaining low-latency electronic trading solutions for US treasuries, futures or swaps.
• Experience integrating proprietary components with ION, TradeWeb or Bloomberg
• Experience with Capital Markets, understanding how Derivatives instruments are priced and valued, RFQ workflow

We will expect the consultant to possess experience in fostering a highly collaborative and dynamic multi-team environment. This will require to build and maintain strong relationships with users and stakeholders across FO Desks, Quant, Technology and Model Validation.
