Summary

In Vivo Resources (IVR) Associate, Pharmacology


Our client, a biopharmaceutical company, has an opportunity for a temporary in vivo technician supporting in vivo studies within their rodent-based, drug discovery research program. Responsibilities include animal husbandry, in vivo study support (compound administration, blood collection, necropsy/tissue collection), and facility maintenance. Candidates must be able to work both independently and within a team environment. Hours of operation are flexible.


Responsibilities

  • Working closely with the IVR team and pharmacologists, provide research support for in vivo studies including:
  • Compound administration (PO, SC, IP, IV),
  • Clinical observations and data collection (body weights, body condition scoring)
  • Euthanasia procedures
  • Tissue collection (blood collection, necropsy, tissue collection/preparation,
  • Sample processing (centrifuge and running both hematology/chemistry analyzers)
  • Perform daily health checking and husbandry including identifying and responding to clinical conditions.
  • Perform facility maintenance including receiving/stocking supplies, sanitization/sterilization of equipment and environment, waste management, and monitoring environmental parameters.
  • Confirmation and adherence of program compliance with IACUC and EHS regulations/standards. Maintain personal compliance with Agios institutional expectations (training, timecards, etc.).
  • Perform receipt and housing of animal shipments.
  • Other operational/technical opportunities as required/presented

Qualifications

Education/Knowledge

  • English comprehension (reading, writing, verbal)
  • High School degree with 1-3 years laboratory animal experience
  • Recognition and response to normal/abnormal animal conditions & behaviors (preferred)
  • Experience with genetically engineered rodent models (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of institutional, local and federal animal welfare regulations (preferred)
  • Microsoft Office, Outlook and data base knowledge.

Abilities

  • Experience with/exposure to rodent care (husbandry, technical support, clinical identification)
  • Familiarity with research facility operations (stock & waste management, organization, sanitation) (preferred)
  • Lift, push, pull up to 50lb, stand for extended periods of time and perform repetitive motions
