We are seeking an experienced IT Specialist to support its global operations, reporting to the IT Manager. The role involves providing technical support to both shore-based teams and vessel crews, managing desktops, servers, networks, and software systems.
Key Responsibilities
User & System Support
- Provide technical assistance and support to company and ashore personnel
- Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize desktops, servers, networks, and software systems (both local and remote)
Cloud & Infrastructure Management
- Administer and manage cloud-based platforms such as Azure, Office 365, Active Directory, ERP systems etc.
- Oversee user accounts, mailing systems, mobile devices, and related services
- Maintain a secure, resilient, and high-performing IT environment across all company sites
Onboard Support & Vessel Attendance
- Travel to vessels to install, upgrade, and maintain IT and communication equipment
- Diagnose and resolve issues related to onboard servers, workstations, networks, CCTV, and SatCom systems
- Liaise with third-party vendors and coordinate repairs to ensure minimal downtime
Network & Security
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure including VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, VoIP, and Wi-Fi systems
- Implement data backup strategies, security protocols, and monitoring tools
- Perform OS installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting (Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Proxmox, Hyper-V)
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related technical field
- 3–5 years of hands-on IT support experience. Shore-based and vessel environments experience (desirable)
- Strong knowledge of enterprise infrastructure, onboard IT systems, and cloud technologies
- Proven experience with network administration (firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, VoIP)
- Familiarity with satellite communication systems and onboard IT equipment is highly desirable
- Excellent command of English (spoken and written) is essential
- Strong interpersonal skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and a customer-oriented attitude
- Willingness to travel frequently
