Position Overview
General Function:
The IT Public Safety Administrator oversees the administration of the City's Police Department (PD) systems, applications, and compliance. This role involves providing advanced software support, conducting system analysis and diagnostics for departmental users, and leading IT projects. The position operates with a high level of autonomy and requires handling sensitive and confidential information.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Plan, organize, and direct efforts for the Police Department systems and their impact to operations.
* Understand and maintain the Police CAD/RMS Systems and ancillary applications.
* Provide advanced-level support for additional systems, including phone recording, document management, mobile applications, and others as needed.
* Maintains and monitors the department's core network, switches, and other network devices.
* Maintains all server systems and performs updates as required.
* Monitors and performs routine and disaster recovery backup of data.
* Configures and manages the department's firewalls, intrusion detection / prevention systems, and all cybersecurity-related systems.
* Plans and designs changes to the Department's network and computer systems as necessary.
* Understand and ensure systems compliance with all standards required of the Police Department by the Department of Justice, CJIS, State of Florida, and any other regulatory agency or legal requirement.
* Plan and prepare documents for proposed projects to include technical specifications and cost benefit analysis.
* Analyze submitted proposals from RFQs/RFPs or contracts for new systems.
* Project planning to account for all aspects of system deployments including resource allocation, budgeting, timeframe, training, documentation, and scope.
* Develop, recommend, and implement system and process changes to improve operations and efficiencies.
* Work with all available resources to improve system integration and processes between City departments.
* Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
* Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* Assists in training departmental personnel in the use and operation of equipment and software.
* Conducts audits of departmental computer records to ensure accuracy.
* Prepare reports as required.
* Maintains strict confidentiality of all departmental information.
* Attend seminars and workshops related to duties and responsibilities as directed.
* Assists in monitoring, diagnostics, modifications, construction, and repair of the department's communications system.
* Will be required to be "On-Call" during off-hours for emergencies or system problems.
* Performs other related duties as required.

Type of Appointment/Work hours:
* Full-time/Regular position.
* Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week, usually consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day. The workday may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
* Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Qualifications & Work Environment
Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, in addition to a minimum of five (5) years of experience in computer support.
* Job Control languages/procedures development is desirable.
* Demonstrated experience in both network and desktop operating systems support work, installing and repairing equipment.
* A+, Network+, CCNA, MCSA, or equivalent desirable.
* Understanding of Virtualization (VMWare or Hyper-V).
* Understanding of Storage Area Networks.
* Understanding of Cloud-based Solutions.
* Knowledge of local area and wide area network administration, telephone, and other communications systems support.
* Knowledge of Windows systems, laptops, networks, and servers. Extensive experience in O365, Microsoft Suite, and Microsoft Active Directory. Experience configuring and troubleshooting cellular devices using O365 and calendar.
* Knowledge of various IT support tools.
* Experience working in a multi-faceted real-world environment.
* Must be able to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
* Must possess a valid Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Must pass an extensive background screening process.
