Summary

NOVA Engineering & Environmental is hiring an IT Director in Kennesaw, GA to lead and coordinate all phases of NOVA’s day-to-day information technology department, including systems design, configuration, installation, and operation. The IT Director will accomplish the following: 1.) Establish plans and administer the overall policies and goals for the NOVA information technology department. 2.) Analyze the needs of departments and establish priorities for feasibility studies, systems design, and implementation. 3.) Develop new and/or modify the company’s information processing systems. 4.) Manage the installation and operation of information systems and equipment. 5.) Achieve desired results using budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision making. 6.) Advise and support common IT technologies and platforms deployed throughout the enterprise.


Overview:

To lead and coordinate all phases of NOVA’s day-to-day information technology department, including systems design, configuration, installation, and operation. To establish plans and administer the overall policies and goals for the NOVA information technology department. To analyze the needs of departments and establish priorities for feasibility studies, systems design, and implementation. To develop new and/or modify the company’s information processing systems. To manage the installation and operation of information systems and equipment. To achieve desired results using budgets, proper contracts, and efficient decision making. To advise and support common IT technologies and platforms deployed throughout the enterprise.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hire and trains IT staff.
  • Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.


Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leads development and implementation processes for the organization’s IT systems and department.
  • Oversee outsourced IT support functions, including “Help Desk” reporting and problem resolution to ensure problems are resolved in a timely and well-prioritized manner, and assure a high level of service to internal customers
  • Contributes to strategic planning, direction, and goal setting for the department or function in collaboration with senior management. Including budgeting, forecasting and strategic planning for IT spend.
  • Participates in the evaluation, development, and recommendation of solutions specific to the entire organization as well as specific solutions for individual departments.
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss.
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure.
  • Establish departmental policies, practices, and procedures that have a significant impact on the organization.
  • Manage and troubleshoot the email architecture, including Exchange, Antivirus, Anti-spyware and Anti-spam technologies
  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs.
  • Oversee security of systems, networks, and enterprise information.
  • Facilitates IT security audits or investigations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinates multi-site IT systems via enterprise resource planning (ERP).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or relevant field.
  • Proven experience as IT director or similar role.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT management and systems administration
  • Experience in analysis, implementation and evaluation of IT systems and their specifications.
  • Sound understanding of computer systems (hardware/software), networks etc.
  • Experience in controlling information technology budget.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task while prioritizing assignments and managing time in a fast-paced and fluid environment.
  • Ability to identify issues proactively and problem solve.
  • Ability to follow instructions and understand process flows.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft technology stack, systems configuration, and management (Microsoft 365, Entra, Azure, Defender, CoPilot, SharePoint, Teams, etc.)
  • In depth experience in direct support of networking platforms, virtualization technologies, and Microsoft cloud solutions


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in related IT fields.
  • Professional certifications such as Microsoft Technologies, PMP, ITIL, CISSP, etc.
  • A/E/C industry industry-specific software experience: Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint, Metafield, Bentley, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Regulatory and compliance frameworks such as NIST CSF, 800-171, FedRAMP, CMMC, FAR, etc.
  • Experience with SaaS platforms and technologies such as Dropsuite, KnowBe4, Meraki, etc.
