Summary

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Split shift 12pm - 8pm Six week on call rotation General Statement of Duties: Assist the Assistant Superintendent (Asst. Supt.) of Information Technology & Communications, Systems Manager and specified Information Technology and Communications staff in the administration and operation of all information technology and communications systems within the Essex County Sheriff's Department. Provide internal IT customer service to ECSD employees. Supervision Received: Performs duties under the direct supervision of the Assistant Superintendent/Information Technology & Communications. Supervision Exercised: Exercises working supervision over all Essex County Sheriff's Department employees as related to (their) use of the computers, telephones and all the electronic record keeping system. Essential Functions: § Assist in the development, implantation and maintaining of information technology procedures & procedures within the Essex County Sheriff's Department. § Helps to assess the current and (anticipated) future needs of the Essex County Sheriff's Department, as related to information technology and communications evolve. § Help develop and maintains custom programs as needed. § Assist in the maintenance, scanning and rendering electronic record keeping. § Work with courts and other law enforcement agencies to provide subpoenaed files, video and audio data. § Conduct weekly/monthly/random audits of all information and technology systems to ensure that policies and procedures regarding their use are adhered to. § Be available outside of regular business hours to triage technical outages and problems in IT as needed. § Keep abreast of changes and developments in IT and assist in implementing those changes at the Essex County Sheriff's Department. § Act as liaison between the Essex County Sheriff's Department and external agencies at the request of the Assistant Superintendent. § Monitors and maintains the software and hardware accordingly. § Oversees the support contracts that cover the daily operation, maintenance and upgrading of the departments many various technology, maintenance and operational systems. Required Education and Experience: § Must have an Associates degree or 60 credits towards a bachelor's degree and/or Two years § At least two years' experience in the information technology & communications field. § Military Experience. § Must have a working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems (server & desktop), Active Directory, Microsoft Office Software, Cloud and web-based applications and networking. § Specific experience, certification, training or education in Windows Server, Citrix Systems, Office\SharePoint 365, Cisco networking systems, Fortinet firewalls, Polycom video conferencing, Symantec Backup Systems and Web\Cloud based systems or Java a plus. § Must be able to install, terminate, test, label & document Cat5/5E cable. § Must have a basic working knowledge of VoIP (voice over IP) phones systems. § Must have a working knowledge of virtual severs, virtual clients, published apps and desktops. § Familiarity of implementing and maintaining smartphone technology in a business environment. § Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Class 3 Motor vehicle Operator's License. § Must be willing and able to travel to remote facilities or departments as needed. § Must demonstrate good written and oral communications skills. § Ability to work under pressure, to make sound decisions, and to manage a number of priorities. Excellent organizational skills required. § Ability to act calmly, make decisions, and act quickly in emergency/stressful situations. Ability to adapt to varying work situations. § Interact well with people who are under physical and/or emotional stress. § Ability to maintain accurate records, prepare reports, analyze and determine the applicability of data, draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
