Department Overview

L2：The assignment will be to the Procurement Operation Department , Rakuten Group, Inc. Procurement Operation Department is responsible for entire Rakuten group procurement operation as centralized procurement function.

L3：It is said that trade is free in principle, but due to the recent Russia-Ukraine war, US-China trade friction, economic security, etc., the environment surrounding import and export businesses is becoming increasingly severe. Under such circumstances, working to strengthen the trade control system at the Rakuten Group, Inc. will make you directly feel the fun and reward of building the systems and operations. This position oversees the Group's import/export operations, so you can get a bird's-eye view of the entire Group by experiencing various business models and products. This position is ideal not only for those who have a long experience in import/export operations, but also import/export control, and international logistics practices, and who want to make use of that experience as a member of International Trade Operations Section.

Why We Hire

In July 2024, the International Trade Operations Section was newly established at the Procurement Operations Department to support the Rakuten Group’s import and export operations.

In 2025, we will start full-scale export and import business support, and we will recruit people who have experience in trade (export and import) operations and who will be ready to work.

Position Details

You will be responsible for the import and export of cargo at Rakuten Group, Inc. and each company/division (in Japan).

General Import And Export Operations

• Preparation and confirmation of import and export documents (invoices, packing lists, international courier waybills, etc.)
• Customs Clearance, etc. (import/export customs clearance request, explanation of the products to the customs broker, pick-up/delivery request, etc.)
• Transportation (air and sea transportation) arrangement and management
• Preparation of statutory control documents and response to post-customs audits
  
  

Compliance With Trade Laws And Regulations

• Confirmation and response to customs duties and import and export regulations
  
  

Management Of International Transportation And Customs Clearance Operations

• Coordination with international Shipping Company (forwarders)
• Delivery date adjustment
  
  

Cost Management And Optimization

• Estimating and negotiating transportation costs
• Proposal and implementation to reduce costs
  
  

Internal Customer Engagement And Support

• Responding to import and export inquiries from business divisions and individual companies
• Prompt response and resolution in the event of a problem
  
  

Education And Awareness-raising Activities

• Trade education and enlightenment for business divisions and individual companies
  
  

Work Environment

4 (1 in 60s, 1 in 50s, 2 in 30s)

All 4 employees are mid-career hires

Mandatory Qualifications

• Ability to act proactively and flexibly based on the current import/export operations situations and walk together as one team
• Experience in trade (import and import) operations over 5 years
• Knowledge of the customs laws (including additional elements, valuation declarations, etc.)and other import/export regulatons
• Experience in post-customs audits
• Experience in export and import consultations, trade education, and enlightenment
• English: Intermediate (a level where you can read and write trade-related terms without stress
  
  

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in trade in IT communication related industry
• Experience in E commerce business
• Customs broker license, a qualified peron with the trade practice certificate（regardeless of the rank)
• Experience in implementing export and import operations system
• Experience in planning and constructing export and import operation and system
• Basic knowledge of export control
