The commercial banking unit with branches in Singapore, Shanghai and Hong Kong specialise in managing KBC group relationships from Belgium and Central & Eastern Europe (CEE). It also offers an invaluable and specialised platform for those companies in Asia Pacific that conduct business with, and in, Belgium and CEE.
The incumbent is to independently and objectively assess the risks of KBC activities as identified in the Asia Pacific audit universe. To plan, organize and conduct audits of those activities in order to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of the internal control and risk management system of these activities, utilizing a risk-based approach and tuning priority and resources allocation with the Chief Auditor Asia Pacific (APAC). To work closely with the relevant Process Owners (subject matter experts) in carrying out the audits assigned from start till end.
Responsibilities
Manages as well as performs planned audits within established time budgets and stipulated milestones.
Ensure appropriate audit coverage in consultation with the relevant Process Owners and Chief Auditor by:
· Developing tailor-made risk-based audit work programs based on understanding of the existing processes and the actual risks identified.
· Obtaining, analyzing and appraising evidential data so as to form an initial opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system of internal control and risk management of the areas being audited.
· Planning and performing customized audit testing and enhance the audit effectiveness during the review and for the future.
· Ensuring that audit work is performed in accordance with the Group’s risk-based methodology.
· Preparing reports on audit issues, residual risk and formulating clear action plans for review by the relevant Process Owners and Chief Auditor for issuance to audit clients.
· Present and discuss issues and recommendations with the relevant Process Owners and business management.
· Follow-up on audit action plans and its implementation.
· Actively seek and maintain professional certifications/ knowledge.
· May be requested to participate and assist in special projects / reviews as requested by Head Office Audit and / or local management (within the parameters defined in the Group Audit Charter).
Skills and Competencies
· Sound knowledge of banking activities and related risk management.
· Good working knowledge of audit techniques and principles and corporate policies.
· General knowledge of the business and the products.
· Basic knowledge of the region's accounting, legal and regulatory requirements.
· Excellent English and Mandarin skills with good PC literacy
Education/ Experience
· Auditing background in APAC gained through financial and banking audits, with minimum 6 to 10 years’ experience.
· Those with IIA Certification (CIA) or currently pursuing CIA will have an added advantage.
