We are looking for a day rate contractor who has around 3-4 years experience (as a guide only) audit experience including time spent in internal audit. Strong preference for Insurance or wider FS.

The team

The Group Internal Audit team provides independent and objective assurance and advice to the Group Audit Committee, and to the Boards of Directors of the companies within the Group, over the processes and systems of control and risk management operating in the Group. IA’s scope covers all aspects of the Group and its activities and liaises closely with other monitoring functions across the Group, including Group Compliance and Group Risk.

The Group Audit team is based in London, York, Luxembourg, Lisbon and the US. The team is supplemented with additional co-source when required.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a part of a small but dynamic team, you will spend most of your time conducting fieldwork and testing for audits across the Hiscox Group in line with the plan. This will be through working with other members of the team, with co-source or alone on smaller reviews. You will also provide support to a variety of audits being delivered.

The role covers several aspects of the successful delivery of audits, including:

  • effective stakeholder and relationship management at all levels;
  • making effective and pragmatic observations to address issues and to add value to the business;
  • working with and supporting other team members; and
  • helping to build and maintain Internal Audit’s presence and reputation across the Group.

Outside the plan, you may be asked to assist with admin tasks and conduct specific reviews or to take on special projects.

Requirements

  • 4 ish years audit experience including time spent in internal audit.
  • Experience of Financial Services firms preferred.
  • A dynamic, assertive and self-confident individual who can work independently to deliver without the need for high levels of supervision
  • Strong people and relationship building skills, notably influencing and negotiating, as well as flexible team working skills
  • Innovative problem-solving skills and the courage to apply them
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

About Hiscox

As an international specialist insurer we are far removed from the world of mass market insurance products. Instead we are selective and focus on our key areas of expertise and strength - all of which is underpinned by a culture that encourages us to challenge convention and always look for a better way of doing things.

We insure the unique and the interesting. And we search for the same when it comes to talented people. Hiscox is full of smart, reliable human beings that look out for customers and each other. We believe in doing the right thing, making good and rebuilding when things go wrong. Everyone is encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo and look for solutions.

Scratch beneath the surface and you will find a business that is solid, but slightly contrary. We like to do things differently and constantly seek to evolve. We might have been around for a long time (our roots go back to 1901), but we are young in many ways, ambitious and going places.

Some people might say insurance is dull, but life at Hiscox is anything but. If that sounds good to you, get in touch.

Diversity and Hybrid working

At Hiscox we care about our people. We hire the best people for the job and we’re committed to diversity and creating a truly inclusive culture, which we believe drives success.

We have also learned over the past few years that working life doesn’t always have to be in the office, and now it is safe to do so we have introduced hybrid working to encourage a healthy work life balance.

This hybrid working model is set by the team rather than the business to enable you to manage your own personal work-life balance. We see it as the best of both worlds; structure and sociability on one hand, and independence and flexibility on the other.
