INTERNSHIP: Application of Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method for simulation of rarefied gas flows
Objective:
This internship aims to provide competence and a practical experience in the simulation of rarefied gas flows using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method, a statistical approach widely used in the study of non-continuum fluid dynamics. The focus of this project will be on the application of DSMC to real-world engineering systems, such as microfluidic devices and vacuum systems using the DSMC implementation available OpenFoam. Particular interest will be paid to the comparison of DSMC results against numerical data obtained by means of traditional CFD solvers, e.g. StarCCM+, and/or experimental results.
Responsibilities
Required Skills:
This is an exciting opportunity for you to work in the cutting-edge field of rarefied flow modelling and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. If you are passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and want to be part of a team shaping the future, we encourage you to apply. Interested candidates should submit their resume and a cover letter outlining their relevant experience and motivation.
The successful applicant is committed, self-propelled, pragmatic, flexible, enthusiastic, and open to learn. Of course, you also must be a team player.
Please note, that for this position a valid work permit is required.
