About The Role
Cast & Crew is seeking a Backend Developer Intern with a strong interest in Node.js and scalable backend services to join our Technology & Product team. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute to production-grade systems used by the entertainment industry while learning from experienced software engineers.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in the development of Node.js-based backend services and APIs
- Build integrations with internal and third-party services
- Work closely with frontend developers, product managers, and QA teams
- Participate in agile development cycles, including daily stand-ups and sprint reviews
- Write clean, efficient, and testable code
- Help design database models and write optimized queries (SQL or NoSQL)
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve backend issues
- Contribute to code reviews and team-wide knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Solid understanding of JavaScript, Node.js, and backend architecture
- Familiarity with Express.js, RESTful APIs, and asynchronous programming
- Basic knowledge of databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL)
- Comfort with Git and collaborative development workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Eagerness to learn and contribute in a collaborative environment
Nice to Have
- Experience with Docker, microservices, or CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
- Understanding of authentication, authorization, and security best practices

Special Work Conditions
- Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.

Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. The compensation range for this position is: $35.00 - $42.00 per hour.
