Job Description
Due to growth, Baird has an opportunity for an
Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join our team and contribute to innovative coastal, marine, and hydraulic infrastructure projects. In this role, you’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team on site investigations, design work, and construction support for a range of high-impact projects.

What You Will Be Doing
- Support the planning, design, and construction of marine and coastal infrastructure projects (e.g., ports, shore protection, breakwaters, and hydraulic structures).
- Conduct and assist in managing geotechnical and geophysical site investigations, including data review, interpretation, and reporting.
- Prepare engineering analyses, calculations, and design documents under the guidance of senior staff.
- Contribute to technical reports, memos, and design packages.
- Collaborate with engineers, scientists, and modelers across offices and time zones.
- Participate in QA/QC reviews, risk assessments, and design development meetings.
- Engage in construction observation and provide technical support during project execution.
- Continue to develop expertise in tools such as LPILE, APILE, gINT, PLAXIS, GeoStudio, and similar platforms.
- Participate in internal knowledge sharing and training sessions.
Qualifications
What You Bring
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in geotechnical, civil, geological, orrelated engineering program.
- 5+years of experience in geotechnical engineering, ideally with exposure to marine or coastal infrastructure.
- E.I.T. designation required; P.E. or P.Eng. registration is preferred.
- Knowledge of soil mechanics, slope stability, seepage, shallow and deep foundations, and ground improvement techniques.
- Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., LPILE, APILE, Slide, PLAXIS, gINT, GeoStudio) is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated technical writing and communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to travel for site work and client needs (domestic/international).
