We are seeking an intermediate design and release engineer to support the serial life production of electric drive module gear reducers. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams and a strong background in product engineering, design, and release processes. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required. Experience with NX and Teamcenter is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
Product engineering / design and release
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and refine gear reducer components and sub-assemblies.
- Focus on continuous improvements, warranty reduction, and cost optimization.
- Generate detailed designs, perform feasibility studies, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Change management
- Facilitate and manage change control processes.
- Ensure all design changes are properly evaluated, documented, and implemented with minimal disruption to production.
DFMEA development and design evaluation
- Create Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) documents.
- Evaluate designs for potential failure modes and recommend enhancements to improve reliability and safety.
DVP&R (Design Verification Plan and Report)
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of DVP&R documents.
- Collaborate with test teams to ensure validation tests are properly executed and documented.
CAE collaboration
- Participate in Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) reviews.
- Provide design feedback, interpret simulation results, and refine designs based on CAE input.
Sourcing and purchasing support
- Coordinate with the purchasing team to track the sourcing of components and materials.
- Ensure cost-effective procurement while maintaining quality and delivery timelines.
Supplier technical reviews
- Support technical reviews with suppliers to align on design requirements and quality standards.
- Address any issues and work collaboratively on resolution.
Pre-pilot and launch support
- Assist in pre-pilot and product launch activities.
- Address last-minute engineering or design changes to ensure production readiness.
Tooling kick-off
- Participate in tooling kick-off meetings.
- Ensure the accurate and timely development of required tools and manufacturing equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field; an advanced degree is a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in product engineering, design, and release, preferably in propulsion systems
- Proficiency in CAD software, particularly NX; experience with Teamcenter is advantageous
- Strong understanding of DFMEA, DVP&R, and CAE processes
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and suppliers
The pay range that the employer in good faith reasonably expects to pay for this position is $25.43/hour - $39.73/hour. Our benefits include medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis.
