Interim Controller-Healthcare



Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is actively seeking an experienced Interim Controller to lead financial operations and support strategic decision-making. Based in California, this role reports to the CFO and is pivotal in overseeing accounting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, audits, and internal controls. The Interim Controller will collaborate with department leaders to provide valuable insights into financial performance, ensuring effective fiscal management. This role is interim currently, with healthcare experience required and FQHC experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Lead annual budget and quarterly forecast processes.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure GAAP compliance.
  • Manage audits, tax filings (including 990), and regulatory reporting.
  • Supervise accounting operations including payroll, accounts payable, and fixed assets.
  • Support donor fund tracking and capital project reporting.
  • Provide financial insight to leadership and department heads.

Qualifications

  • Healthcare/Non-profit Healthcare Experience (FGHC Highly Preferred).
  • BS in Accounting (CPA and/or MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in accounting/finance (non-profit preferred).
  • Proficiency in accounting and budgeting software (e.g., Intacct, Adaptive).
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of IRS, GAAP, and non-profit compliance standards.

Required Work Hours

Monday to Friday, first shift.

Benefits

This is a full-time, exempt supervisory position that oversees the Accounting Manager and supports a mission-driven team. The role offers a competitive salary with a pay range of $155,000 to $180,000.
