Job Description

We are currently seeking a Lab Integration Administrator to join our Lab Operations team working to support the Land Command Support System (LCSS). The LCSS is the system of systems that primarily supports the Canadian Army in operations by providing information services required to make effective and timely command and control decisions about their forces. It is an interconnected network of digital communications and information systems by which the data needed to plan, direct and control tactical and operations is communicated, stored, processed and displayed. The Lab Operations team maintains a secure virtual private cloud network/environment supporting physical lab space for the project teams to perform their work. This role includes developing an obsolescence management plan which consists of migration to an off-premises cloud solution.

Responsibilities can include:

  • System administrator of a large virtual private cloud environment.
  • Participate in operation of a help desk for users of the lab and its virtual environment.
  • Working in an Agile team environment, attending daily scrums, working on planned work items.
  • Configure and maintain development and test environments for various stakeholders.
  • Respond to unforeseen issues, initiate troubleshooting, escalate appropriately and implement resolutions.
  • Ensure continuity of lab operations (back-up and restore, failover, etc).
  • Report status of planned and emergent work as necessary.
  • Perform Software and equipment configuration, upgrades and maintenance in a lab environment.
  • Elicit future requirements for lab capabilities and manage lab stakeholders.
  • Design cloud environments and solutions that meet the developer and test teams requirements.
  • Provide architectural design and direction to other team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Computer Science/Applied Science or Technical diploma in IT support, network administration or systems administration
  • Knowledge of virtualization products: vCentre, ESXi, vSphere, OpenStack, NSX-T, vRealise Suite, Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with Linux operating system and various distributions: Ubuntu, RedHat
  • Experience in Powershell or BASH scripting languages.
  • Experience with VxRail Hyperconverged Infrastructure (solution design and implementation/deployment experience).
  • Knowledge of Windows Server, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), Active Directory, DNS Configuration, Group Policy and windows system administration in an environment of 200+ users.
  • Experience administering enterprise antivirus solutions, specifically, MacAfee, Symantec.
  • Networking background w/ hands-on experience with Dell and Cisco routers and switches.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.
  • Lab management experience (helpdesk, maintenance planning and scheduling, troubleshooting, license management).
  • Experience with cloud technologies, including configuration and deployment of cloud environments.
  • Information Technology Certifications (Examples: CCNA, AWS CCP, CompTIA)

Additional Assets:

  • Knowledge of Scrum, SAFe framework and agile principles.
  • Knowledge of LCSS or military LC4ISR communication systems.
  • Defence industry or DND/CAF experience.
  • Experience with either AWS or Azure cloud platforms.
