Sellen's Integrated Design Manager develops creative and practical solutions at the intersection of design and construction, taking responsibility for ensuring that both parts are developed in unison. Using a collaborative and iterative approach they facilitate the complex coordination of project design and construction efforts during the preconstruction phase of a project, integrating the design process between the owner, builder, and design team.


The activities of this role span many different stages of the project, starting with the proposal/pre-award phase and continuing until the completion of construction and project handover.

The Integrated Design Manager builds high-trust relationships with clients and diverse teams, leading solution development that ensures early phase design and preconstruction efforts achieve desired goals considering entitlements, permitting, code regulations, preconstruction cost and schedules.


You must have current and past experience as an Integrated Design Manager and excel in client relations, as this role requires a component of business development and meaningful client engagement. DBIA Certification is required.


Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field with equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8-10 years' of direct applicable work experience.
  • DBIA Certified (required).
  • LEED Accreditation (strongly preferred).


Knowledge

  • Expert knowledge in alternative delivery methods. Knowledge of both traditional and progressive design build delivery methods are mandatory.
  • Ability to understand owner programming needs and project goals.
  • Strong understanding of architectural and supporting engineering applications.
  • Strong understanding of entitlements, building codes and regulations.
  • Expert knowledge of Lean Construction Principles.
  • Expert knowledge of the commercial construction processes for preconstruction, construction work sequencing, schedule forecasting, change order processing, cost management, and record keeping.
  • Forecast cost and schedule impacts. Managing and tracking project costs.
  • Expert knowledge of Lean Construction Principles.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and construction means and methods.
  • Working knowledge of CAD, VDC, BIM, VR, AR, and MR technologies.

  • Skillful in connecting the design team to the construction team as well as the owner from project inception to close-out.
  • Organize and lead efficient meetings. Working well under pressure.

Abilities

  • Think conceptually and evolve solutions with an agile methodology.
  • Pivot quickly to reframe and resolve issues.
  • Work with tight timelines.
  • Work conceptually to understand owner/architect requirements.
  • Grasp construction documentation and interpret critical information.
  • Relate construction processes, means, and methods to construction scheduling and estimating.
  • Assemble an RFP for design build services, evaluate and lead the selection process.


The full salary range for this position is $129,000 to $175,000. New hires typically start between $129,000 and $152,000, depending on direct professional experience and qualifications.
