The Department of Business Administration, Hospitality Management, and Communication Studies at the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USC Beaufort) invites applications for a professional tract Instructor to start August 16, 2025. The department seeks dynamic and forward-thinking candidates for the position of Instructor of Accounting. The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration offers three concentrations: Accounting, Management, and Marketing, and is the largest major at the University of South Carolina Beaufort. The program prepares graduates for professional careers in a variety of business settings as well as laying the groundwork for successful graduate study.
Duties
Teaching
Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate Accounting courses on the Bluffton campus. The Instructor teaches a 5/5 load in a variety of introductory and upper-level courses, with specific needs in courses related to cost accounting and taxation. Instructional modality is primarily face-to-face, complemented by offerings delivered hybrid or online.
Service
Contribute to shared governance by serving the program, department, and university. Service generally includes student advising and mentoring, participation in committees, and other professional service activities. Assist with growing connections with local businesses to broaden experiential learning opportunities for student internships.
Required Education and Experience
Candidates must have at least an earned master's in Accountancy or Taxation, OR an MBA/MS and a minimum of 18 graduate credits in accounting from an AACSB-accredited program. Commitment to teaching and serving undergraduate students from underserved and diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications: CPA licensure or other accounting certification preferred. Evidence of high-quality teaching and learning practices in classroom and online learning environments.
