Summary
Brief Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Lead Instructor to join our team and teach our Women+ Web Development courses. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction on core programming concepts, front-end and back-end development, and professional skills. As a Lead Instructor, you will play a crucial role in guiding our students through a flipped classroom model, ensuring they develop the skills needed for entry-level tech careers.
Position Details
This is a temporary part-time non-exempt role
Start Date: September 8, 2025
Estimated End Date: October 21, 2026
Pay rate is $42/hour
Instructional Leads report to the designated program’s LaunchCode Program Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Instruct and Guide Learners (70%)
Instruction: Teach and facilitate Web Development courses focusing on JavaScript, front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React), Java and React, and other relevant programming tools.
Curriculum Delivery: Utilize a flipped classroom model to deliver content, guide discussions, and provide hands-on coding practice. Ensure students understand core concepts and apply them effectively. Provide instruction that is appropriately paced and directed to specific occupational skills while accounting for individual differences in ability, motivation, and learning rates.
Professional Skills Training: Provide insight on business communication, resume review, behavioral and technical interviewing, and other professional skills. Promote active participation in the LaunchCode Apprenticeship Program and Candidate Pool
Student Support: Offer individual support and feedback to students to help them succeed. Monitor progress and provide additional help as needed.
Collaborate and Develop (30%)
Collaboration: Work closely with the VP of Programs, Curriculum Team and Education Operations Managers to align on educational goals and strategies.
Continuous Improvement: Stay current with our employer partner needs, industry trends and best practices in web development and adult education. Contribute to the development and refinement of the curriculum and teaching materials.
Qualifications
5+ years of professional experience as a Software Developer with advanced knowledge of Java, JavaScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
2+ years of experience teaching adult education, training, or related fields.
Strong public speaking, presentation, and communication skills.
High level of business acumen with an approachable professional demeanor that reflects the tech industry's professional standards.
Demonstrated passion for helping others learn technical skills for entry-level tech careers.
Prompt, dependable, and efficient with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment using real-time analysis and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills
Advanced knowledge of the following skills: SQL, Data Analysis, Tableau, PowerBI, Salesforce, and C#.
Familiarity with adult education best practices and flipped classroom models.
