Posting Details Posting Details (Default Section) Posting Number: 0603660 Position Title: Instructional Laboratory Assistant - Transportation Technologies Position is: Temporary full-time (general fund) Position Type: Faculty Position (Full Time/Part Time) Department/Ofc.: Advanced Technologies & Public Service Careers Position Description: This is a temporary, full-time position for the Fall 2025 semester. The duration of employment may be extended based on the needs of the college.Position SummaryThe Instructional Laboratory Assistant supports the Transportation Technologies programs by facilitating instruction and hands-on learning in internal combustion engine (ICE) courses. Working closely with instructors, this role provides technical support, maintains lab equipment, assists students, and contributes to curriculum development. The position also supports student recruitment and retention initiatives in an inclusive environment.Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Instructional Support• Collaborate with instructors on lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on activities related to internal combustion engines.• Assist students during lab sessions, including troubleshooting and technical guidance.Lab and Equipment Management• Maintain and organize ICE equipment and tools to ensure readiness and functionality.• Enforce OSHA and SOS safety standards in the lab setting.• Set up and dismantle labs before and after sessions.Student Support• Provide guidance on coursework, assignments, and skill development.• Maintain accurate records on attendance, performance, and progress.• Support recruitment and retention efforts with an emphasis on underrepresented populations.Administrative Duties• Develop and refine curriculum materials and assessments in collaboration with faculty.• Train and coordinate schedules for part-time lab assistants.• Oversee procurement and inventory management using scan tools and inventory software.• Participate in promotional events and competitions as a means of outreach.Professional Development• Stay informed on industry trends and best practices in ICE technology and instructional techniques.Other Responsibilities• Perform additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications• Associate degree in Automotive Services or a related field, or equivalent education/training/lab experience.• Two (2) years of full-time work experience in the skilled automotive field.
