The Opportunity

West Liberty University is seeking applications for Instructional Design Assistants. This is a temporary and remote position. This position assists with the daily operations within the Center of Teaching and Online learning (CTLOE) and provides support type services to increase the capacity of its director. This position reports to the Center of Teaching, Learning and Online Education.

Responsibilities

• Converts Question Pools imported from Sakai into the Canvas Item Bank format
• Builds assessments in the Canvas Quizzes tool
• Creates and updates Canvas Pages and Modules
• Provides technical assistance to faculty, staff and students with Sakai, Canvas and other educational technology tools.
• Manages and uses variety of university operating systems to include Banner and APEX
• Professionalism via phone, email, and face to face communication. Greets visitors. Answers and screens telephone calls to assess nature of business.
• Schedules and attends college & university meetings.
• Additional duties as assigned.
  
  

Education & Experience Requirements

• Experience working with learning management systems in an administrative, instructional design, or support capacity
• Experience in creating course shells, organizing modules, uploading content (documents, videos, etc.), and configuring course settings
  
  

Skills/Abilities

• Familiarity with setting up various types of assessments (assignments, quizzes, discussions) that utilize the system's grading tools including rubrics
• Ability to use common LTI tools such as Zoom, Turnitin, etc.
• Online teaching experience
