POSITION DETAILSThe Fullerton School District is seeking qualified individuals for a part-time position to assist teachers engaged in education programs with non-English proficient and limited English proficient students (NEP/LEP) in a primary language and English by instructing students, individually or in groups, and to relieve the teacher of routine clerical duties. This classification is distinguished from the IA/General Education by the requirement that the assistant must have the ability to understand, speak, read, and write English and the primary language of the pupil of limited English proficiency. This career opportunity is a 9.5-month/year position with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation during the school year calendar. The current anticipated opening is expected to be 32.5 hours weekly, Monday-Friday, during school hours. Exact hours and schedules will vary depending on school site needs during regular school hours. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEEducation:An equivalent to graduation from high school is required. Must also show sufficiency in educational requirements by meeting one of the following requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB): • Two years of higher education (i.e., 48 units or more); OR• Associate's Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation; OR• Proof that indicates you have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST); ANDAll Instructional Assistant candidates must take and obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Instructional Assistant Proficiency AssessmentExperience: Recent experience in working with children or youth groups. EXAMINATION PROCEDURESThis is a promotional-only recruitment. The recruitment process may consist of written, performance, and oral examinations. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or before testing. The resulting eligibility list will be used up to twelve (12) months to fill current and future vacancies.Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at (714) 447-7458 prior to the testing date.Date of Examination(s):The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified by email, writing, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
