TAMIU is a Hispanic Serving Institution with over 8,000 students located in Laredo, Texas, a vibrant and bicultural city with a population of about 250,000. For more information, please visit https://www.tamiu.edu/. This is a non-tenure track 3-year faculty position that is renewable contingent on satisfactory job performance and departmental needs. Primary duties will include teaching 12 SCH per semester (four classes of 3 SCH each) in foundations of Art, and possibly another area of strength of the successful candidate; advising students; and providing service to the department, college, and university. Duties also include curating, in collaboration with other faculty and staff, the department's gallery. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace. The Art division is part of the Department of Fine and Performing Arts, comprising Art, Music, Dance and Theater. The art division has seen growth over the past few years, currently at around 133 art majors and minors, supported by a dynamic and active faculty component. Required Qualifications The successful candidate must hold a Master's degree in Fine Arts. We strongly encourage candidates with a minimum of 3 years of instructional experience at the collegiate level. Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
