Position Summary
The Inside Sales Engineer provides technical and sales support to customers, contractors, consulting engineers, and the outside sales team. Based in Huntsville, the role focuses on equipment selection, proposal development, project coordination, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Inside Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the company's commercial HVAC business and contributing to its overall growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Sales Support: Assist with the sizing, selection, and specification of HVAC equipment to meet project requirements.
- Quotation Development: Prepare accurate, timely quotes based on customer requests, plans, and specifications.
- Order Management: Process customer orders, track project milestones, and coordinate with manufacturers for on-time delivery.
- Customer Service: Provide responsive and knowledgeable support to customers throughout the sales and project life cycle.
- Project Coordination: Monitor and manage project status, proactively addressing delays, design changes, or delivery issues.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Outside Sales Engineers and the Sales Manager to support project pursuits and customer initiatives.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate customer and project records within the CRM system to support forecasting and reporting.
- Training and Product Knowledge: Participate in regular training to stay current on new products, technologies, and industry trends.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all work aligns with internal processes, industry standards, and applicable building codes.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent HVAC industry experience considered.
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in HVAC sales, estimating, or technical roles preferred.
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and applications.
- Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong technical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with CRM systems and quoting software is a plus.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with a manufacturer’s representative firm or mechanical contractor.
- Knowledge of major HVAC equipment brands (e.g., Trane, Daikin, Carrier, Mitsubishi Electric).
- Familiarity with the North Alabama commercial construction market.
Working Conditions
- Primarily an office-based role with occasional travel for training or customer site visits.
- Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
