Job Description for Infrastructure Manager
We are seeking an 15+ year experienced Infrastructure manager with expertise in Cloud services (Azure), Hybrid Infrastructure Management, and Software License Management to join our team. As an Infrastructure Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the management, optimization, and enhancement of our infrastructure platforms, primarily within Azure environments. You will collaborate with development and operations teams to implement automation, ensure efficient scaling, maintain high availability and performance of our virtual service infrastructure, and ensure proper management of software and cloud licensing.
Key Responsibilities:
Azure Cloud Infrastructure Management:
Manage the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud-based infrastructure within Microsoft Azure.
Oversee the configuration, management, and scaling of virtual machines, storage accounts, networks, and other Azure resources.
Ensure Azure services are optimized for cost-efficiency, scalability, and security.
Implement and manage monitoring, alerting, and logging across all services to ensure performance and reliability.
License Management:
Manage and track licenses for cloud services (such as Azure subscriptions) and third-party software used within the infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with licensing agreements and that software and cloud resource usage are within licensed limits.
Work with finance and procurement teams to optimize license costs and renewals, ensuring that all infrastructure components are fully licensed.
Regularly audit license usage and manage software asset lifecycle to reduce risk and optimize resource allocation.
Provide recommendations on license allocation, upgrades, and renewals (including reservations), ensuring alignment with company needs and budget.
Security & Compliance:
Ensure the infrastructure follows best practices for security, compliance, and governance within the Azure environment.
Implement security controls, network security groups (NSG), role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and other measures to protect data and infrastructure.
Performance Optimization:
Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of infrastructure resources to meet changing business needs.
Work with cross-functional teams to address bottlenecks and optimize resource utilization.
Disaster Recovery & High Availability:
Develop and implement disaster recovery strategies for virtual machines and services hosted in Azure.
Ensure high availability of services with automated failover mechanisms.
Team Management & Collaboration:
Manage a team of infrastructure engineers, providing technical guidance, mentoring, and fostering a collaborative working environment.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their infrastructure requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
Participate in incident management and troubleshooting, coordinating resolutions in high-pressure environments.
KPI Management
Availability & uptime - resiliency, metric visibility, SLA continuity (internal/external)
Cost optimization - technology best practices, architectural design implications
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience:
15+ years of experience within an IT environment mainly in 4th line/Infrastructure/Network teams, with at least 3 years in Cloud Computing (primarily Microsoft Azure).
Experience in managing technical people is a must
Expertise in managing cloud resources, including provisioning, scaling, patching, and monitoring.
Understanding the cloud cost models with regards to reservations, subscriptions, PaYG and marketplace services
Experience in cost management and compliance, including managing cloud service subscriptions and software asset lifecycle.
