Job Description
The Information Technology Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the district's operational infrastructure, including, but not limited to software, security, and life cycle of systems. This role involves coordinating projects, implementing strategies to improve efficiency, reliability and overall operational performance.
The Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IT team, ensuring the availability and reliability of systems and implementing new technologies and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of all areas under the direction and control of the position. They will perform a variety of duties requiring a thorough knowledge of departmental operations, systems administration and the exercise of judgment and initiative in completing tasks, particularly in situations not clearly defined by precedent or established procedures. This position requires the ability to handle a significant number of details, each varying from the other in substance and content, requiring flexibility in approach to workload.
Detailed Responsibilities
* System administration - Google, MDM, O365, AD, security programs
* Oversees operational systems, processes, and infrastructure while looking for opportunities of improvement or revision
* Plays a significant role in long-term planning, project status reporting, and implementing change control processes.
* Works closely with the director of technology on special projects, planning and departmental organization.
* Raises and tracks issues and conflicts, removes barriers, resolves issues of medium complexity involving stakeholders and escalates to appropriate level when required.
* Establishes and maintains credible, professional relationships with staff and external vendors.
* Stays up to date on industry regulations, trends, and technology.
* Solicits and responds to feedback while gaining commitment and support.
* Contributes to the district's roadmap, architectural direction, and continuous improvement.
Requirements and skills
* Bachelor's degree and field-related technical certifications or equivalent; more than 5 years relevant combined experience in Information Technology and applications
* Prior public school experience is a plus and/or systems and reporting experience (Clever, Google Education, Apple School Manager, state testing, etc.)
* Understanding of network configuration, management and administration.
* System Administration
* Knowledge of Google and Microsoft 365 Platforms
* Ability to provide functional oversight to staff of the tech team. No direct reports.
* Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with the public, coworkers, other employees, departments, officials, etc., and to effectively lead and collaborate with diverse groups.
* Ability to address operational concerns and issues as well as monitor overall end user satisfaction.
* Ability to work with a high level of detail and prioritize multiple tasks.
* Ability to change direction and rearrange tasks according to deadlines and circumstances.
* This position may involve some remote (unlikely in person) work on weekends as needed.
